This is a project I began at the age of 21, during a month abroad with Pepperdine University in the summer of 2007. In order to process heartbreak, shyness, and the ending of my first long term relationship, I was drawn to the open and joyful nature of the Italian men on the streets and photographed them in film. This project continued when I moved to Italy in 2009-2010 and again in 2014-2015, and progressed into taking portraits of men in other countries, using medium and large format film cameras as well as digital.
